Day Plan

BAGDOGRA Airport/ NJP Station to PHUENTSHOLING(170 KM 4 hrs drive)

Meet and Greet on arrival at IXB Airport / NJP Train Station and transfer to Phuentsholing.
It is a thriving commercial centre on the northern edge of the Indian-Bhutan Plains.
On arrival check in at the hotel.

Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.
Bhutan trip ( SUV)

PHUENTSHOLING- THIMPHU(176 KM 6 hrs drive Altitude of Thimphu: 2248mts)

After breakfast complete the immigration formalities and transfer to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.
On arrival check in at the hotel.

In the evening, visit the Tashichhoe Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion).

Overnight stay at Thimphu.
Tashichhoe Dzong
Tashichö Dzong (meaning Fortress of the Glorious Religion) has been the seat of Bhutan's government since 1968.---- It presently houses the throne room and offices of the king, the cabinet secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance.

Day Trip to Punakha / Wangdue - via Dochula Pass

After breakfast day excursion to Punakha/Wangdue (One-way Approx 70 kms / 2hrs) Enroot visit Simtokha Dzong proceed to Wangduephodrang, with a stop en-route for tea at Dochu La Pass (3,100 meters), where on a clear day you can get spectacular views of the Himalayas.

In Wangdue Have your lunch and in afternoon drive to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan, and visit Punakha Dzong (Optional and entry fees on direct payment basis) , which is noteworthy both for being one of the most beautiful dzongs in Bhutan and also for having been built by the first Shabdrung in 1637. Also visit the Punakha Suspension bridge - The second longest suspension bridge in Bhutan , its perche cover the chhu and Po Chhu river and is about 160-180meters in length its one of the oldest bridge in the world that connects Punkaha Dzong to the rest of the valley -
Evening back to Thimphu -
Back to Thimphu - Overnight at Thimphu.
Dochu La
Dochu La (30 KM, 1 hour driving time) - A mountain pass, offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of Eastern Himalayan mountain ranges comes on the way to Punakha. The view is especially scenic on clear, winter days with snowcapped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 Chortens gracing the mountain pass. Halt here for some time and then proceed to Punakha
Punakha Dzong
the marvelous Fortress, situated on the confluence of the Pho Chu and Mo Chu.

Thimphu City Tour & Transfer to Paro

After breakfast proceed for a sightseeing of the capital of Bhutan which includes the following places of interest:

Post Lunch transfer to Paro (65 KM 1.30 hrs drive) -

Memorial Chorten
A monument, built in 1974 to honour the 3rd King of Bhutan, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck (1928–1972), is a prominent landmark in the city with its golden spires and bells.
Kuensel Phodrang
World,s Largest Sitting Buddha Statue. The statue was erected to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, as well as to fulfil two ancient prophesies from the 8th and 12th centuries, according to which a massive Buddha statue will be erected in the region to bring peace and happiness to the globe.

PARO Hike to Taktsang Monastery (Tigers Nest) -OR- Chelela Pass Trip

Tiger Nest also known as Taktsang Monastery a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This sacred temple is perched on the edge of a cliff and is considered one of the most iconic landmarks in Bhutan.
It is one of thirteen Tiger's Nest caves in historical Tibet in which Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) practiced and taught Vajrayana.
The main temple houses a sacred statue of Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism.

It will be 4-5 hours trekking to reach the Monastery & Back.
Ponies are available for hire.

After breakfast, proceed for a day excursion to Chele-La pass (12,200ft)
The highest motorable point in Bhutan.

Paro to Chele-La Pass distance is about 40 km, it takes around 2 hours by car to reach the Pass.
The drive to Chele-La Pass from Paro offers splendid views of the thriving flora and fauna during summer

Kyichu Lakhang
The lhakhang was built to subdue a demoness (Sin Mo) and all of the 108 temples were said to have been built on the same day to subjugate her and ensure the propagation of Buddhism. ---It is located north of Paro about five minute's drive from town.
Ta Dzong
National Museum of Bhutan is a cultural museum in the town of Paro in western Bhutan. Established in 1968, in the renovated ancient Ta-dzong building, above Rinpung Dzong under the command of His Majesty,---- the King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the third hereditary Monarch of Bhutan.
Rimpung Dzong or Paro Dzong
Rinpung Dzong, sometimes referred to as Paro Dzong, is a large dzong - Buddhist monastery and fortress - of the Drukpa Lineage of the Kagyu school in Paro District, Bhutan. ----It houses the district Monastic Body as well as government administrative offices of Paro Dzongkhag.
