The Tshechu Festival of Bhutan is one of the most vibrant and spiritually significant celebrations in the Himalayan kingdom. Held annually across different districts, these festivals are a unique blend of religion, culture, and community bonding.
Tourists from around the world visit Bhutan during Tshechu to witness colorful mask dances, sacred rituals, and the unveiling of giant religious scrolls known as Thongdrol.
Tshechu means “the 10th day” of a month in the lunar calendar. These festivals are dedicated to Guru Rinpoche, who introduced Buddhism to Bhutan.
The highlight of the festival is the Cham Dance, performed by monks and laymen wearing elaborate masks and costumes.
